Long Beach, the southernmost city in LA County, is not a small town by any standard, yet, it has been able to maintain the easy-going style of a Californian beach town.
Long Beach town center and the area around Pine Avenue, Long Beach Plaza and Ocean Blvd. feature many shops and restaurants, and not typically to the LA area, can be navigated by foot.
The two most popular attractions in Long Beach are the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific and the Queen Mary, once one of the world's largest ocean liners and now a floating museum and hotel.
On the other side of the Long Beach Navel Station, the San Pedro Coast Line connecting Long Beach to Redondo Beach offers dramatic sea cliffs, tide pools, terraces and views of Catalina Island resting on the horizon.
